FAQs2019-01-31T19:02:28+00:00

Here are some frequently asked questions.

Do you take insurance?2019-12-18T20:26:16+00:00

Insurance companies and managed care plans dictate treatment. They limit the session length (usually 50-60 minutes/session max) and the number of sessions, they require a medical diagnosis which stays on your permanent record forever, they have the right to access to your personal and confidential information, and in some instances, they even mandate which kinds of treatment can or cannot be used. These are just a few of the many reasons why Eversfield Counseling & Therapy is not in-network with any insurance providers.

Payment, therefore, is by cash or credit card, and is due at the time of the session. Most Health Savings Account cards can also be used.

If you think your insurance plan might cover your therapy on an out-of-network basis, and you would like to attempt to submit claims yourself for reimbursement after you have paid your session fee in full, upon request, we can provide you with a statement of services that you can submit with your claims.

How much will it cost?2019-02-05T19:26:39+00:00

In general, the standard fee for a 50-60 minute session is $150, and is prorated to the actual session length. A more detailed list of services and prices is below:

Discernment Counseling Initial Session Package

(up to 3.5 hours of clinical time): $525

This includes:

  • two 30-minute initial telephone consultations (one for each partner) to ensure that Discernment Counseling is the best choice for your needs
  • one 2-hour in-person Discernment Counseling initial session, and
  • two 15-minute follow-up telephone consultations (one for each partner) to confirm the next steps, if any.

Payment is not required until you have scheduled your initial 2-hour session. Therefore, if after the initial telephone consultation(s), it is determined that Discernment Counseling is not the best choice for you, you pay nothing, and the initial telephone consultations are considered complimentary.

What if my partner will not go to therapy with me?2019-01-31T19:11:04+00:00

Come anyway! There is a lot we can do to address your relationship concerns, even if you come alone. After all, the only person you can control in your relationship is yourself, not your partner. By working on yourself therapeutically, you can often (but not always) change the overall dynamic of your relationship, even if your partner does not attend with you.

How long will it take?2019-01-31T19:12:47+00:00

We will work together to create a treatment plan that meets your particular needs. That said, here is a general guideline of service treatment length:

Discernment Counseling Sessions are short-term, for a maximum of five sessions. Most couples come for 1-3 sessions. These may be spaced weekly, or spread out further, depending on the particular circumstances.

If, after a course of Discernment Counseling, it is determined that the couple would like to undertake Relationship Therapy, a commitment of six months of weekly therapy is often indicated, though there is some room for flexibility. This is designed to allow you to really get to the heart of your issues once and for all, and also to accommodate for circumstances like holidays, illnesses, and other interruptions in the process.

Please note that this six-month commitment to therapy is to each other, not to the therapist. You are never under any obligation to attend any more sessions than you would like.

Individual and Relationship Therapy Sessions vary greatly in terms of overall duration. Some clients have identified very specific needs that can be addressed in only a few sessions. Most clients, however, can expect to attend between 8-12 weekly sessions in order to benefit from longer-lasting change. Other clients, particularly ones with more entrenched problems, continue coming for six months or more. And finally, there are some clients, usually individuals, who desire longer-term support and who come for therapy over a period of years, albeit periodically, to maintain their progress. We will check in frequently to discuss what is working, what is not so helpful, and how we can attain your therapeutic goals in as time-sensitive a manner as possible.
