Rebecca Shine Azar, MS, LMFT

Rebecca (Becky) Shine Azar is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Illinois (#166001029) and has been in private practice since March 2012. She is a Clinical Fellow with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), and is a Certified Discernment Counselor. She also completed advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT Externship), the Gottman Method (Level1), and PREPARE/ENRICH Premarital Counseling. She is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Becky obtained her MS at The Family Institute at Northwestern University and completed her clinical training at the Betty D. Harris Family Clinic in Evanston, Illinois in 2011. She graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Psychology from Marquette University in Milwaukee in 1996.

Before pursing her life-long dream to become a therapist, Becky worked as a Research Assistant in the Departments of Psychiatry at the University of Arizona and at UT-Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. She also spent six years working as a medical malpractice paralegal.

In her free time, Becky enjoys traveling, reading, spending time with friends and family, listening to music, and playing Euchre. She is happily remarried, with two biological children and two stepchildren.
